High in the swiss Alps the Beer Olympic Torch has been lit and is now making it's way across Europe in order to light the flame for the start of the 2008 Beer Olympics on Mount Clyde.
With this news, teams appear to be getting more coordinated with regards to their team spirit. From costumes, to war paint from the tribal regions of their country, each team appears to be doing what it takes to represent their country to it's fullest!
After a very successful and private meeting of the B.O.C., the budget has been laid out, games have been selected and the committee is on strict orders to keep the games secret until the day of the event. No amount of torture or ice cream will get the information out of this tight crew.
And now - to introduce your Beer Olympics Committee:
THE HOTBOC
Head of the Beer Olympic Committee Corina Harris (formerly Hill)
Corina comes by her beer drinking roots honestly. From a wee age, her parents would put a taste of beer in her mouth to help aid with the pain of teeth growing in. Later in her teenage years she was introduced to a mighty fine beer called Canadian.
After meeting a fine chap named James, other more notable beers came into the mix and Corina has now sampled beers from all over the world. She continues her quest for the tastiest brew, but certainly knows a good beer when she tastes it.
After discovering the International Beer Olympic Committee from a long standing competitor from the winter Games, Corina has done a multitude of hours of research in order to formulate the 2008 Summer Games. She has offered up the land on Mount Clyde as the home for the Games and coordinated the committee and the team invitations. She is sleeping, eating and breathing the Beer Olympics and will strive to make this years games a success.
The BOCVP
Beer Olympic Committee Vice President Devon Hogue (formerly Edwards)
Devon was a party girl from way back. She has sampled many a beer as well and although she'll admit that she prefers martinis over beer, she would gladly pick up a pint if it meant that she would win the competition.
A fierce competitor, Devon would prove to all that she will not lose - if she wasn't gestating a future competitor. Devon is currently carrying a child that will prove to have the strong urge to succeed from it's mother, and the excellent beer to blood ratio of it's father, Stephen. As Devon will be unable to compete in this years Games, she has so graciously agreed to assist with the Beer Olympic Committee.
Her strong organization ability, enthusiasm for fun and competition, and her creative genius make her a tremendous asset to the BOC.
The BOCC and BOCO
Beer Olympic Committee Coordinator Kristina Thoms (formerly Durant)
Beer Olympic Committee Official Curtis Thoms
Kristina and Curtis come from a long line of east coasterners that have not been afraid of a good brew. Their beer history is so long, that they have agreed to forgo the drinking, and to be part of the Beer Olympic Committee for the 2008 Games.
Kristina has a proven track record for organizing events from birthday parties and weddings and has many ideas as to how to make the 2008 Beer Olympics an event to remember. Her strength for searching for the best deal and bardering, has made her an asset in ensuring that the Games remain on budget.
Curtis has the much needed talent of keeping people organized, has a strong voice that will carry over the sound of drunken competitors and adds a much needed male perspective to the BOC.
